What is NMAT?

NMAT (National Management Aptitude Test) is an exam conducted at a national level for admission to different management programs. A key feature of this test is its candidate-friendly design, which includes a long testing window and the option for multiple attempts. NMAT is being conducted by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), the same organization that administers the GMAT, which lends it significant global credibility. The exam is accepted in many of the leading management institutes in India and abroad, including in countries like South Africa, the Philippines, and Nigeria.

NMAT is a computer-based test that has been created to evaluate the skills and knowledge required for management education. It is uniquely structured as an adaptive test, where the difficulty level of questions adjusts based on the candidate’s performance. NMAT has a flexible test window, which enables the students to schedule their exam at their convenience within the provided time frame, typically spanning over 70 days. This structure is designed to reduce stress and allow applicants to perform at their best.

NMAT Eligibility Criteria 2025


  • An individual must have graduated in any stream/course or hold an equivalent degree from a UGC recognized university to apply for MAT 2025. This has also been indicated to express those candidates who are in final year of graduation and are awaiting their final year examination results are also eligible to apply for MAT 2025. They would have to provide the passing certificate before the given date to respective MBA college. 


  • There is no cut off score required for MAT. However, cut off scores set forth by the colleges and institutions accepting MAT are 50 percent (45 percent for reserved category). .


  • There is no age limit to appear in MAT. A fresh graduate or a working professional could appear for the exam.


  • Candidates who have qualified a professional degree such as a CA, CS or ICWA could also choose to sit for MAT.

NMAT Exam Pattern 2025

NMAT is a computer-based examination composed of three sections; Language Skills, Quantitative Skills, and Logical Reasoning. The examination is designed to assess your skills in a variety of subjects of a management-related nature. There is a time limit of 120 minutes for the examination.

Registration Process NMAT 2025

The NMAT registration is a multi-step online process.

    1. Create an Account: Visit the official NMAT by GMAC website (mba.com/nmat) and register by creating an account with a valid email ID.
    2. Fill the Application Form: Log in and complete the application form with accurate personal, academic, and contact details.
    3. Choose Schools: Select up to five B-schools to which you want to send your scores for free.
    4. Pay Registration Fee: Pay the NMAT exam fee online. This fee covers one exam attempt and sending scores to five chosen schools.
    5. Schedule Your Exam: After successful payment, use the “Schedule Exam” button on your dashboard to book your preferred test date, time, and center.
    6. Apply to Colleges: Remember to also complete the individual application forms for each of your chosen NMAT-accepting colleges on their respective websites.
