What is NMAT?

NMAT (National Management Aptitude Test) is an exam conducted at a national level for admission to different management programs. NMAT is being conducted by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) and is accepted in many of the leading management institutes in India and abroad. NMAT is designed to test the candidate’s Language skills, Logical reasoning, and Quantitative skills. NMAT is conducted one time a year.

NMAT is a computer-based test that has been created to evaluate the skills and knowledge required for management education. NMAT has a flexible test window, which enables the students to schedule their exam at their convenience within the provided time.

NMAT Eligibility Criteria 2025


  • An individual must have graduated in any stream/course or hold an equivalent degree from a UGC recognized university to apply for MAT 2025. This has also been indicated to express those candidates who are in final year of graduation and are awaiting their final year examination results are also eligible to apply for MAT 2025. They would have to provide the passing certificate before the given date to respective MBA college. 


  • There is no cut off score required for MAT. However, cut off scores set forth by the colleges and institutions accepting MAT are 50 percent (45 percent for reserved category). .


  • There is no age limit to appear in MAT. A fresh graduate or a working professional could appear for the exam.


  • Candidates who have qualified a professional degree such as a CA, CS or ICWA could also choose to sit for MAT.

NMAT Exam Pattern 2025

NMAT is a computer-based examination composed of three sections; Language Skills, Quantitative Skills, and Logical Reasoning. The examination is designed to assess your skills in a variety of subjects of a management-related nature. There is a time limit of 120 minutes for the examination.

As demonstrated above, the NMAT is composed of three major components that are relevant to students’ intent to pursue management studies. It is a critical exam for students who are looking to receive an MBA in India or overseas. The scoring system and structure is uniform every year.

  • All question types in NMAT are multiple-choice and consist of four response options.
  • Each correct answer receives 3 points.
  • There is no negative scoring for wrong answers.
